We won’t be disappointed

We’ll fight like girls for our place at the table

Our room on the floor.

I was wondering which way to go
Spending all of my damn time
Leaving all the weight behind.”

And my legs

My little legs are getting weak.”

30 Day Music Challenge, Day 9 – A Song That Makes You Happy

Standard

Oh hey remember when I actually did this and wasn’t awful?

“Wild Ones” – Flo Rida ft. Sia.

Allow me to explain.

Normally, I’m not going to vouch for a guy whose name is literally Florida with a space in the middle to make a convenient pun. Or a song that is this gimmicky.

But this song reminds me of this time last year. I was turning a lot of stuff around and learning a lot about myself. And this song was played constantly in a combined effort by the gym and this one girl I was friends with. So while it’s nothing special to me, it reminds me of somewhere special in my memories.

For something mellow that still makes me smile because it reminds me of a fuckbuddy turned good friend, go here.

For something sent to me by a best friend who makes me super happy, go here.

30 Day Music Challenge, Day 8 – A Song About Drugs or Alcohol

Standard

The Mountain Goats – “You or Your Memory.”

St. Joseph’s Baby Aspirin. Bartles & Jaymes.

It’s a song about half-heartedly attempting suicide with the knowledge you aren’t actually going to die. Or, as I interpret it, trying to reap the benefits of some major life lesson without actually having to learn the lesson. Which is, ah, something I attempt on the daily.

Another song that mentions Bartles & Jaymes in a completely different context can be found here.

And some Tom Petty’s right over here.

30 Day Music Challenge, Day 7 – A Song To Drive To

Standard

So, I suck at this, but here’s another installment.

“Moon River” – Audrey Hepburn.

I used to drive home from the gym to this over the summer, when the sun was setting. It’s the kind of song that can make a freeway seem lazy and quiet and driving at 75 feel like cruising at 25.

For another with a similar effect, look here.

For something to roll the windows down and blast while you’re driving at night, look here.

30 Day Music Challenge, Day 6 – A Song That Makes You Want to Dance

Standard

Oops. Yeah. Remember when I was doing this?

“I Need Your Love” – Calvin Harris ft. Ellie Goulding.

The song itself isn’t particularly inspired, but one of my best friends once got a kick out of watching me empathically pelvic thrust to it a-la Eric Prydz. So, whenever it turns up on my iTunes or I hear it at the gym, I want to pelvic thrust dance to recall a really fun afternoon.

For something sweet and upbeat that reminds me of the first person I said ‘I love you’ to, check it.

For your daily dose of Kanye, look no further.
