‘50 Shades of Grey’ isn’t the first and certainly won’t be the last steamy, stimulating book. [via]

omfg are you really gonna call lolita “erotica”?

people are sickkkk

Lolita has the erotica sense but it’s still good

Lolita is a classic. It’s an amazing novel.
But no. It is not erotica. It is a story about a paedophile. I’m so done with seeing it portrayed as a ddlg relationship on here.

Thank you. Lolita does not have the “erotica sense.” It wasn’t written to arouse anybody.

Humbert Humbert is not intended to be a paragon of sexual vigor: he’s older, he’s awkward, he’s bumbling and delusional. He has no teeth, for Christ’s sake. And Dolores Haze is not particularly sexual or desirous: her actions are misconstrued under the “haze” (bad pun) of Humbert’s pedophilia. The sex scenes are never explicit. She usually just gives him a handjob, he threatens her, she cries about it. And then, spoiler alert, she escapes her abuser, ends up with another abuser, because unfortunately that’s usually how this shit works.

Part of me actually fucking worries about people who think this book has an “erotica sense.” And then part of me realizes NOBODY READS A GODDAMN PIECE OF LITERARY FICTION ANYMORE BEYOND GOING TO THE FUCKING GOODREADS PAGE TO FIND THE ARTSY LINES TO PUT ON THEIR TUMBLRS TOTALLY DIVORCED OF CONTEXT.

Ugh I can’t.

Read a fucking real book and appreciate it as a complex piece of fucking literature. I’ve had it. Officially.
