A public service announcement from the management of this tumblr:

In high school, I was told by my guy friends that I intimidated the crap out of them and their friends. Apparently, the fact that I wasn’t afraid to be smarter than them and to claim this intelligence scared them pantsless. Only, pantsfull. Because they weren’t getting pantsless for me.

When I was a preteen, I remember awkwardly trying to relate to girls my age and just not being able to at all. I was once told that I could only sit down and eat lunch with a group of girls my age if I “didn’t talk about politics or the environment or the news or school or anything smart” and for a week I proceeded to sit in silence with this group of girls with literally nothing to contribute to their conversation.

It’s easy to just want to dumb yourself down because, well, it makes things simple. But, in looking back on being a kid, I regret more the times I dumbed myself down and waded through miles of other peoples’ drivel and brain putty than the times I was excluded for standing my ground.

And let me tell you, followers who are all hopefully over 18 so I shouldn’t have to be preaching really at all, mature adults find intelligence incredibly sexy.
