I AM SO BLOODY FURIOUS:

Three-year-old Aboriginal girl left in tears after she is racially abused by a grown woman for wearing her favourite Frozen costume

  • Samara Muir, 3, had dressed up as Queen Elsa from Disney film Frozen
  • The little girl wore the outfit to a Disney event in Melbourne
  • She was racially abused by a mother and her two daughters
  • ‘Black is ugly’ the three-year-old was told by one of the other girls
  • Samara was so upset she would not go to her Aboriginal dance class
  • When her mother asked why she replied: ‘It’s because I’m black’

Wow, what the fuck? I’d like to find that racist “mother” and punch her..

Someone ask Georgina Haig to record a message for this girl.

Idina, too, but George comes to mind since she’s Australian.

(So dead serious.)

Poor baby

“I told her ‘because God gave you that skin colour, because you’re a proud blackfella like mum’.”

Since speaking to the media, Samara and Rachel have received hundreds of messages of support online. Samara has been invited to perform in the Disney on Ice Dare to Dream show and indigenous rapper Adam Briggs has invited her to star in his new music video — she will play a young Cathy Freeman.

“We are very overwhelmed and shocked by the kindness of people. I didn’t think people would care so much,” Ms Muir told The Courier.

“I can’t express how much it has meant to us. I just thought it would be a story people would click past and forget. To know that she has touched so many people … that they see her how I see her, is just incredible.”

Ms Muir said she reads all the messages to her daughter.

“After every message Samara smiles and says ‘thankyou your majesty’,” Ms Muir said.

“She is back to her proud, beautiful Aboriginal self.”

Yes baby, do it to it with your beautiful indigenous self. We all love you.

I was wondering why none of the black writers on OITNB called out the whites for having Taystee basically tell another black inmate to stop pulling the race card and then I remembered that the show has no black writers, and that the one POC writer on the staff, a Latino man, left after the first season. How can you make a show about the experiences of women of color in prison and have no women of color (or people of color at all) writing for your show?

Quote

Why do people make such a big deal about diversity? Why is it so important that a protagonist in a movie or novel be black? What does it matter if there are no Native-American themed dramas on television? I would argue that there is a strong correlation between diverse content, identity, and self-worth. What I mean is that it is important…no, it is imperative for children of color to see and read about strong characters that they can identity with. Characters that give them a sense of identity, expand their dreams, and increase their self-worth.

why do non-black people of color always do this? why make everything about black people about you?

Black latinas dont exist? That girl is a damn mess

they never miss a chance

How exactly does one represent an ethnicity that’s made up of multiple races???

I am so tired of this because we are never allowed to be exclusive when we do something for black people. We always have to be inclusive because people simply get offended by something being all black. But, when black people get upset at NO REPRESENTATION AT ALL BY ALL MEDIA/ENTERTAINMENT/FASHION OUTLETS we’re told “Well, go make your own!”

^^^^^^^^okay⁉️
Meanwhile, how many Latinas even recognize Afro-Latinas? They’re just the Blacks…

Being black is like being the mother of POC. NBPOC think we should create rallies, protests, visibility days, and (apparently) dolls for them. But what POC group (as a whole, not just a few members), are repping for us? Every culture has a slur for black people but then they want us to be their guard dogs.

I’m all for solidarity, but why is it that everyone always expects us to do the hard work?

I feel like being Black/African American makes us the posterchildren for other ethnicities. Like oh, “Black people have something that specifically represents them, that’s nice, BUT WHY DON’T WE!?

I feel like we need to talk more bout America Chavez.

She’s a teenage latino gay superhero from another dimension. Like, how could you not just love her? Oh, and she’s a member of the Young Avengers.

image

Yes. As in THOSE Young Avengers. Did I mention she’s incredibly bad-ass?

image

You wanna talk powers? This lady has powers up the wazoo. We’re talking super strength and durability, flight,

as well as bullet-proof skin.

Is Loki checking out her ass? goddamn it Loki she will kick you so hard in the face. Oh yeah, there’s another thing.

image

She can literally kick holes between dimensions to allow for instant travel across worlds. So, basically…

image

America Chavez is essentially the ultimate superhero and someone we DEFINITELY need to be talking about more often.

Her parents ar a pair of lesbians too so there’s that.

And her parents are like… red and blue and they come together and like have this cool red and blue kid it’s so cool #wowiknowcomics
