reminder
I am not for everyone.
Other people are not medicine.
I feel like for a minute there (maybe like two months ago) I was spiraling to become part of the Tumblr hive and listening and believing everything that developed off this site.
And then I got my sense back and it’s crazy to see how bad it is.
I sometimes make posts just to remind myself not to believe everything I read. Or to hope that people following me and that I follow are people who actually have opinions that developed out of their own heads.
Because it’s real easy to just follow the masses and make the jokes and be enraged about things I don’t actually understand and act like I’m different and special.
I really hope people are thinking twice before they reblog reblog reblog…
Remember, don’t let anyone tell you that your value is based off your body and its current state. Don’t let anyone make you feel less then because you’re bigger than they think you should be. Don’t let anyone make you feel less than because you’re smaller than they think you should be. Don’t let anyone make you feel less than because you don’t identify as the gender they believe you should be.
You are worth more than your body. You are more than your body. That is a shell of your being and that shell is perfect exactly as it is but you are more than that shell. You are your soul, you are your mind and you are power.
Don’t let anyone take that away from you.
Fuck with yourself so heavy that you forget that anybody else exist
Standardthe worst beauty misconception dark girls are fed is that they can’t experiment with their look
you can go as loud as you want
or keep it simple
stick to the neutrals
or go on all out galaxy chic
go out sultry
or go out sweet
cause your skin is so versatile
that there’s no such thing as “the right colour”
be a goddamn mermaid if you like
dress down
or up
go natural
or not
you’ll still look flawless
so go ahead and shower in gold
or do nothing at all
cause at the end of the day
you’re still a queen
You wanna talk representation? Before Tumblr, I never experimented with color, hair or makeup-wise. I’d heard too many people correlate black women and bright colors as ‘ghetto’. Posts like these are So important. So incredibly important.
Thank you
But for real yall some goddesses
there are people in this world who genuinely think they’re superior intellectually because they aren’t interested in boybands or contemporary literature it’s hilarious
