Divers off Japan’s Toyama Bay had a rare encounter with a giant squid last week, capturing this remarkable footage. While they can grow to 45 feet, this squid was just 12.1 feet in length. It wasn’t the only giant creature to be seen this year: Giant salamander, oarfish, tortoise, sting ray, jellyfish and more.
