July 1-6 | Atlanta, GA to Hunting Island, SC

To start July I sent 6 days as the Bike Tour Manager for the Black Freedom Bike Tour. I traveled with 9 black women as the rode their bikes from Atlanta to the beaches of South Carolina.

This trip should us the south + and the true resilience and “can do” attitude of Black women. We rode facing issues of sexism and racism, injuries and hurt bikes. But through their struggle and laughter, they biked 310+ miles to show pay homage for the freedom fighters before us, and the fight we are currently in as black queer, fem and masculine women.

Did I mention we camped and cooked for ourselves.

We did some tribe shit.

We met the King and Chief from Oyotunji of the only African Village in the U.S.

We stood at the Combahee River where Harriet Tubman led her raid and freed over 700 slaves.

We loved on one another and created friendship and sisterhood that will outlast the time we spent on this trip in the Deep South.
