Especially when they’re coming from people who are just trying to protect kids. Especially when those people have personal experience with this.
I was underage when I started exploring kink. I was underage in an adult space. I didn’t have the experience to spot predators. I didn’t have the experience to know that the adult pursuing me should not have been. I didn’t have the experience to recognize when he was being abusive under the guise of kink.
I didn’t understand that he was a rapist, abuser, and pedophile until I was an adult. Existing in the BDSM community didn’t help me understand that. Being an adult and growing up did.
There is no reason for an underage person to be in the BDSM community. None.
