I had so many reservations about submitting this, but then I remembered how far I’ve come since I started following Chubby Bunnies. When I started following around 4 years ago, I would have never dared leave my house looking like this, let alone march in a PARADE! I have so much gratitude for the lovely ladies that are so confident and that leak power from their pores. So I’m submitting this for myself and as a thank you to all of you. Guts, Glitter & Glory my fair ladies!

Shot at the 33rd Annual Coney Island Mermaid Parade with the Punk Rock Mermaids

Jacket altered but bought from Forever 21 (like, three years ago)

Bikini Top by AVA & VIV

Tutu bought from The Tutu Factory (a little pricey but amazing if you can shell out the extra bucks)

All of the embellishments were hand done <3

omgomgomg! This makes me so happy! Look how amazing they look!!

😍😍😍😍😍

December Horoscopes

Chat

Aries: As this year comes to a close reflect on the moments where you thought you couldn’t go on because somehow you did. You will continue to go on and the years will continue to go by and the leaves will regrow like love regrows after going missing for awhile. The sun always rises, especially for you.
Taurus: Ending things only hurts when you leave a part of yourself with that person. Your New Year’s resolution should be to stop taking chunks of your soul and leaving them on someone else’s nightstand before you leave in the morning. If you do that too much then there wont be any of you left.
Gemini: As you fall asleep your dreams lift you up and into outer space. Third person point of view has never hurt this badly. You watch the person you put all your time into fall into arms that don’t look like yours. They look at home. I pray for your nightmares to subside in January.
Cancer: If you end up spending this season alone then remind yourself that it is okay. Put up the holiday lights or sing the cheerful music to yourself. And before you go to bed on New Years Eve, listen to the silence and thank the universe for creating you in a world where you get to celebrate just living 365 days. You should celebrate the little achievements after all.
Leo: You used them like a graveyard. You just wanted a place to rest your bones and be comforted for a bit until you found the courage to live. Shame on you.
Virgo: Rub your tummy when it’s full of gingerbread and candy canes. Put your favorite outfit on even if you have no where to go just because you love your hips in it. Give yourself the gift of self-love this holiday season.
Libra: As you watch the snow fall and the wind blow from outside your bedroom window whisper your secrets aloud and let the cold breeze drift them away. Let the weight finally be lifted off your chest.
Scorpio: Forgive your family for when they bring up people who’s name makes your skin crawl. They don’t know them like you know them. Breathe deeply and take another sip of wine because the holidays are hard to get through when you have too many bridges you have already burnt down so you have to take the long way home.
Sagittarius: Happy birthday. I hope you learnt a lot about yourself this year. And if you didn’t, then why were you spending all that time alone? People should only tear themselves apart if they plan on building themselves back up.
Capricorn: Being drunk wont fix the holiday cards that you didn’t receive. Being high wont fix all the times you spent holidays in their arms and now you only hold yourself. You must face your pain and grow from it. If you let pain live inside you for too long it turns into a demon, attached to you like a second layer of skin, painful to peal off.
Aquarius: It’s okay to want to text them, wishing them a happy holidays, but don’t. It will only sting like a paper cut you get from wrapping presents you paid too much for. Let them wonder if you think about them when you sit in front of a winter campfire, drinking warm cider. Let them think you’ve moved on. Let them do the missing this time.
Pisces: It’s okay to skip the parties, at least you know you wont seem them kissing their new mistletoe lover. It’s okay to lay in bed and watch the ball drop while you snuggle your dog. It’s okay to stay in and turn off the lights and listen to your heart beat. It’s okay to be alone.

“Dad, I’m fat. Boys don’t like fat girls.” I remember saying to my father. Entering 9th grade at a size 16 was scarier than I can express. I stared at myself in every mirror I passed. Not as a matter of vanity, but because of anxiety. I was self conscious. Not only was I heavy, but I was dark. A problem that plagued neither of my siblings.
“Boys don’t like fat girl?!” My dad replied. “They are boys, Candy. Not men yet. They don’t even know who they are and who they want to be. How can you expect them to know what they like?” He grabbed my hand before I left the house. “You better ask yourself do you like it Candy. That’s the only thing that matters. They don’t know it yet. But you are special and made to be adored. Boys like girls who like themselves. You teach people how to feel about you. Everyone. Everyone will love you.”
I took those words and I grew with them. Step one: adore myself. I made a commitment to myself that no matter how big or small I would be I would love myself and adore myself first. The hardest thing I had to do was to walk past those size 2s and 4s on my way to my desk that first day. But the easiest thing I’ve ever done was to walk past those same faces to accept my crown as Prom Queen at a size 18. They did grow to love me.

Happy Big Girl Appreciation Day.
We are all made to be adored. 👑

Oh, btw. It turns out boys don’t like fat girls. THEY LOVE THEM. 💋💋
